I've printed this hand carved sunflower design lino block in yellow and blue to raise funds for Disasters Emergency Committee.

 

DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries providing food, water, shelter and medical assistance.

The sunflower (or “soniashnyk”) is Ukraine's national flower and has been grown on its central and eastern steppes since the middle of the 18th century, cultivated for its seeds, which are eaten as a snack, or crushed into oil, a key ingredient in cooking and an export product of vital importance.

The sunflower has long been a symbol of peace for Ukraine. In the summer of 1996, sunflowers were planted by officials at the Pervomaysk missile base in southern Ukraine to mark the removal of nuclear weapons from the country,
